About the Scholarship

The scholarship was established in 1937 by Mrs Mabel Ashton Walker in memory of her husband, Fred Walker, a Melbourne based manufacturer and the proprietor of Fred Walker and Co., now known as Kraft Foods Limited. In establishing this award, Mrs Walked hoped to improve outcomes for future generations of aspiring students.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • Complete a Bachelor of Science in the School of Chemistry at the University of Melbourne, and
  • Be enrolled in a School of Chemistry fourth year Bachelor of Science Honours, the first year of a Master of Science (Chemistry) or a Postgraduate Diploma in Science (Chemistry)

Selection Criteria

Eligible candidates will be ranked on:

  • Academic achievement 

This scholarship must not be held concurrently with the James Cuming Memorial Scholarship.

Students are automatically considered for this scholarship if they are currently enrolled or have been enrolled in the award year.

Conditions

This award cannot be held concurrently with the James Cuming Memorial Scholarship and cannot be deferred. In addi on, students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of apprecia on or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.
