Flagstaff Partners Award in Science and Engineering

Background

Flagstaff Partners recognise that the performance and participation of STEM graduates are vital for Australia’s future. It also recognises that STEM graduates are trained in the critical thinking, deep analytical understanding of numbers and data, and complex problem solving needed for the financial services sector, recognising also that people with these skills are essential to creating a diverse, high performing workplace.

The Flagstaff Partners Award in Science and Engineering recognises academic achievement and capacity in a talented Masters student studying Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, Chemistry or Engineering and who is interested in a career in the investment banking sector.

Award value: $10,000 paid over two annual instalments of $5,000 each (2021-2022).

Candidates also have the opportunity to be considered for an internship with Flagstaff Partners.

Eligibility

The 2021 scholarship is open to University of Melbourne students who are enrolled or enrolling in:

  • First year Master of Science in Physics, Mathematics and Statistics, or Chemistry
  • First year Master of Engineering

Please note that to be eligible:

  • Candidates must have achieved an entry score into the Masters program of at least 80%;
  • Candidates must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Preference will be given to an eligible student in demonstrable financial need;
  • Candidates must display demonstrated interest and capacity for working in the investment banking sector.

Process

Students must:

  • All candidates must complete the application form and attach a CV by Friday 1 April 2021.
  • Any eligible student wishing to be assessed under financial need must also apply for a Student Grant which includes a Student Financial Assessment form. Applications will be assessed and ranked by Scholarships & Bursaries (University Services) using the Student Financial Assessment process.
