V.W. Officer Prize In Veterinary Science 2026

for the purpose of providing a prize in Veterinary Science as a tribute to Vernon Wicker Officer in recognition of his services as Secretary of the Graziers' Association of Riverina from 1940-1969 to be known as the "V.W. Officer Prize" 

The object of the prize is to give recognition to particular merit in a field of work with direct relevance to diseases and husbandry of sheep and cattle 

To be considered for this prize, you must:

• Be enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy – Veterinary Sciences
• Be undertaking research in the field of diseases and husbandry of sheep and cattle
• Have had confirmation of their candidature

The ​prize​ is offered to the student(s) ranked highest ​by the selection panel based on​ the quality of their application. Other scholarships and prizes received by the students are taken into consideration. 

​​Students must submit an application and include: 

• ​a personal statement addressing the purpose of their research and their commitment to the field of diseases and husbandry of sheep and cattle.  

• ​their curriculum vitae including leadership experience, publications or presentations related to their field of research 

• ​a statement of support from their supervisor.​ 

​​Students must agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship and provide a note of appreciation or a brief report on the benefits of the scholarship if requested.​ 

All scholarship outcomes will be sent via SmartyGrants.
