About the Scholarship

The Science Abroad Travelling Scholarships support PhD students in the Faculty of Science undertaking travel to attend conferences, fieldwork, etc. as part of a Study Away request.

The Science Abroad Travelling Scholarships (SATS) offer both a major and minor award.

  • Major award is valued at up to $2,000 for costs associated with international travel (e.g. in-person conferences or fieldwork).
  • Minor award is valued at up to $500 for costs associated with participation in online conferences that would normally be held outside Australia.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy - Science
  • be confirmed in your candidature;
  • undertake travel before your maximum course duration date; 
  • undertake travel before submitting your thesis and,
  • undertake travel before award of PhD

Note:

Graduate researchers may apply for and receive multiple Science Abroad Travelling Scholarships but the total payment over the course of their candidature may not exceed $2,000.

*Graduate Researchers need to apply for Study Away if travelling for research-related activities away from the University.

Outcome

All scholarship outcomes will be sent via SmartyGrants.
