About the Scholarship

The family of Maurice and Helen Wood, founders of Woodlyn Nurseries, Five Ways, Victoria. The scholarship consists of the net annual income of the fund and is open for award annually to students undertaking or intending to undertake postgraduate study in horticulture at the University.

The scholarship is awarded based on demonstrated academic excellence in the student’s undergraduate studies. Applicants must be Australian citizens or have permanent resident status. Preference is to be given to applicants who demonstrate the potential to benefit from the scholarship and to make a major commercial contribution to the nursery industry.

Open for award annually to students undertaking or intending to undertake postgraduate study in horticulture at the University.

Expenditure of the funds is at the discretion of the recipient and is not restricted to research or study-related expenses.

This Scholarship is open to:

  • Graduate coursework
  • Graduate research

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident,
  • Be enrolling or enrolled in a graduate coursework or graduate research program in the Faculty of Science in the discipline of horticulture.

Selection Criteria

  • Academic excellence as determined by the highest undergraduate course Weighted Average Mark(University of Melbourne equivalent); and,
  • Personal statement demonstrating potential to
    • benefit from the scholarship;
    • make a major commercial contribution to the nursery industry.

WAMs will be weighted by quality of personal statement to arrive at a final ranked list for selection.

Outcome

All scholarship outcomes will be sent via SmartyGrants.
