T.W. Healy Award 2026

The School of Chemistry established the T.W. Healy Award in 2002 to commemorate the distinguished career of Emeritus Professor T.W. Healy, co-founder of the Australian Colloid and Surface Chemistry Student Conference, Dean of the Faculty of Science (1985-1990),President of the Academic Board (1997-1998) and Professor of Physical Chemistry until his retirement in 1998.

The T.W. Healy Award is offered to graduate researchers who are enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in the School of Chemistry and are undertaking travel for the purpose of presenting their research at a conference. Preference is given to students pursuing research in the field of Colloid and Surface Chemistry.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

• Be enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy in the School of Chemistry and have met the requirements for confirmation of their candidature
• Have been accepted to present a paper or poster overseas at a conference in or outside Australia. 

The award is offered to eligible students ranked highest by the selection panel based on their application, the international standing of the conference, and their prior academic performance. Preference will be given to students pursuing research in the field of Colloid and Surface Chemistry if ranked in the top 75% of applicants.

You must submit an application and include details of the proposed conference and a personal statement addressing the relevance of the conference presentation to your research.

Note: Graduate Researchers need to apply for Study Away if travelling for research-related activities away from the University.

Students must provide evidence of travel prior to receive the payment and agree to the University sharing their name and course details with the donor of their scholarship.

All scholarship outcomes will be sent via SmartyGrants.
