About the Scholarship

The John and Allan Gilmour was established with a gift from John Gilmour to promote scientific research for the benefit of mankind and is offered to students who are enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty Science.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to:

  • be enrolled in the second year of the Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty Science.
  • Be a confirmed GR candidate in the Faculty of Science

This scholarship is awarded biennually in the Faculty of Science, and is shared between two Science schools on a rotating basis.

Application

Students must submit an application and include:

  • a personal statement addressing the benefit of their research to mankind,
  • CV with details about awards, distinctions and publications
  • a budget for proposed expenditure, and
  • a statement of support from the Head of Department.

 

Selection

The award is offered to eligible students ranked highest by the selection panel based on the quality of their application.

Outcome

All scholarship outcomes will be sent via SmartyGrants.
