About the Scholarship

The G.I. Feutrill Awards were established through the generosity of Smith Kline & French Laboratories in Swedeland, Pennsylvania, to commemorate Dr Geoffrey Ian Feutrill. Dr Feutrill was a senior lecturer in the University of Melbourne’s former Department of Organic Chemistry who was on study leave and working with the company at the time of his death in 1987.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to be:

  • a full-time PhD candidate in the School of Chemistry
  • undertaking travel to a conference in Organic Chemistry outside Victoria
  • researching Organic Chemistry

Selection Criteria

Eligible candidates will be ranked based on:

  • Academic merit,
  • The relevance of the conference to the student’s research,
  • The international standing of the conference.

One or more PhD students may receive this award each year.

Application Process:

Students will submit an application by the advertised deadline to the School of Chemistry Research Committee. The application should outline:

  • Details of travel outside Victoria
  • Details of relevance of the conference to the student’s research
  • Benefit of travel
  • Details of travel (date, location and budget)

Outcome

All scholarship outcomes will be sent via SmartyGrants.
