About the Scholarship

The FH Drummond Travel Award was established in 1990 by Mrs Margaret Drummond in memory of her late husband, Dr Frank Harvey Drummond. Dr Drummond joined the then Department of Zoology as a demonstrator in 1931, eventually becoming a Reader in Zoology prior to his retirement in 1974.

The Drummond fund supports international travel. Multiple scholarships are usually awarded from the fund, and while the value of each scholarship varies from year to year, typically 5-8 awards of up to $1500 are made each year.

The award supports international travel, which might be to attend a conference (where we expect that you’d be presenting your work) or to do some work with an overseas research group.

These awards generally provide most value when they are combined with Science Abroad Travelling Scholarship applications, and you can also combine these with the money allocated to you by the School for travel.
